Vintage Fashion Fair

Sundays are made for endless pots of tea, numerous slices of toast, long walks, pub lunches and a rummage though a great vintage fair. I managed to pack all of this in yesterday at Primrose Hill, culminating with a visit to the Vintage Fashion Fair at Cecil Sharp House. There was a great selection of stalls with some real gems on offer. Small enough to not be too overwhelming but big enough to make me wish I'd have saved more pennies! The next fair is on April 17th and if you register before hand, it's free to get in!

the smell of spring

I think I can actually smell spring in the air. Not sure how to describe the smell...maybe it's just the fact that I've had a stinking cold and what i'm actually smelling is, well regular smells again. But there is no denying that the birds are out tweeting their hopeful tweets, because they keep waking me up every bloody morning! So away with your winter woolies, bye bye beautiful fur coat.
Ever wondered where all the abandoned gloves go? I like to think that they all hibernate together over  spring, ready to come out and party again next winter!

Colour lust

I love the rich, saturated colours in these photographs. So much so that I completely forgot to find out what they were of/ who they were by, etc...very naughty I know. Next time i'm back at The Natural History Museum i'll find out, but in the meantime...

Bar Pepito

This place is just gorgeous. Tucked away down a little alleyway near Kings Cross Station, it is literally like stepping into a Spanish Taverna. Their speciality is Sherry...and i love my sherry! Yes, i know it may not be the most fashionable drink, (some barmen still laugh when I order it) although i think that's changing. The tapas style food on offer is delicious (check out their menu here) and the staff are really friendly and knowledgable. Be prepared to stand though, as the place is tiny, but this only adds to the wonderful, intimate atmosphere.

Funk and Bowl

Bloomsbury Bowl is always amazing fun. I defy anyone not to have a good time... they sell 26'' pizzas for crying out loud! I'm also a big fan of Radio 6, especially The Craig Charles Funk and Soul show on a Saturday night (perfect cooking soundtrack). So hearing he was going to be DJ'ing there made it a no brainer, plus it's free to get in before 8pm. Bowling at midnight with a Big Lebowski hotdog and beer by my side, was pretty darn cool. I was tempted to order a White Russian but thought that was going too far, plus i don't actually like cream! Funk + Soul + Bowl + Beer = good times!

Mighty Mouse of Euston

I love sooty tube track mice! I have been trying to make friends with the one at Oxford Circus, (Northbound Bakerloo) for years now, but keep getting snubbed! So I was really chuffed to see this brave little fella last week at Euston station, actually on the platform! I lost out on some close-ups through sheer excitement and i was a little drunk, but so was he judging by his lack of inhibition and wobbly crawl! I must have looked like a mad woman chasing a drunk mouse down the platform. Wonder what he was up to? Must have been quite an adventure, maybe his mates dared him...

The John Hour - Windows at Selfridges

Intrigued...?
These fantastic window displays stopped me in my tracks when i first saw them. They are the work of artists Emma Gibson, Emily Pugh and Raven Smith, collectively known as The John HourThe windows aim to 'challenge the rules of modern society, through installations featuring paralleled objects, representing a clash of lowbrow and highbrow culture'. Check out their blog, for more amazing installations.
